Inside with the kids again

Another day of rain. Sigh. At least we have water to drink. I hope next year is not nearly as Hot as this one was. I never thought of moving north before the Texas summer for 2009.

It's Hot!!

I have been living in Austin for nearly 20 years. I can honestly say that the 90s were pretty hot. Since then we have suffered some times that were pretty hot as well. This June is turning out to be a hot one as anyone that lives here or around the country will probably know. But what I fear the most is the coming days of real summer. If it is 105 (officially) in June will we hit 112 in August. Or will we simply see the largest hurricane we have ever seen and end up living in a swamp.

I have only been here for a few years and this is the hottest I have seen. Good thing that moved ACL to September. It's just way too hot to sit in field in August.

I have been to ACL in August. It was certainly no fun. Course the music was great but you had to deal with dirt in your mouth for a week after the show.

Did someone say it was hot in Austin? I hadn't noticed. I thought no water and 105 was pretty standard for you cowboys.

Simons Family Dental, Austin, TX

This is the worst dental office I have ever been to. Money is the only thing they care about. They have a collections guy waiting to jump your a$$ with threats and letters. They move fast too. They give you a couple of months and send some letters so they can mess up your chances of getting a new car, job or house, whatever you're need. They make you pay the collections with extra fees too. The office manager is a bully but acts all smirky and egotistical.

The dentists are super, but the support staff lacks a professional demeanor. My husband and I were at a local nightclub and spotted my son's hygienist and their assistants intoxicated, dancing inappropriately with each other and kissing. We were shocked. That type of behavior doesn't represent a family office.

Should we have taken the money?

So our governor, after strong consideration, decided to take the government bailout, stimulus, Obama print some more money, money.

Part of me wishes we would have been like Ford and said nah, we don''t need it. I still like that about the only American car manufacturer left. The attitude of we can manage ourselves, because we were not really that bad to being with.

After all, isn''t that philosophy what it is all about in this great state of Texas. We have long considered ourselves part of a different country. A country of Texans who can make it their own way or die trying.

So to see us accept this money is kind of a let down. Where are all the old gun slinging cowboys that built this great state. Heck, this is one of the few states, if not the only, one where you are still guaranteed a horse and a gun when you get out of jail.

I know, I know we have a lot of needy people out there that could really benefit from this money. Is $13/week really going to help those people? And will any of them ever see any of this "freshly printed" money in their pockets.

The state a Texas is doing much better in this economy that most states. We are the few, the proud the Texans. We should have told the government that we are OK and like Ford we don''t need any help. And then we should have all gone to Shiner, Texas, drank beer, and thrown a huge BBQ in honor of our independence.

And yet they will put me in jail for printing money.

Bring back the pigskin

Man life without college football sucks. I cant even watch TV anymore for all the crap that they put on. Bring on August and everyone talking about them Horns again. Should be another great year for the Big 12. Maybe this year we can put 70 on the Sooners and those crazy SOBs from Texas Tech.

Hook ''Em Horns!

03/21/2009 -

Agreed. Autumn is only good for two things and one of them is college football.

Banks taking OUR money

Start lending - like you''re supposed to doing - and do your part to get this economy going. You are the sole reason we''re in this mess. Quit renovating offices, giving fat bonuses and generally squandering the money THAT WE GAVE TO YOU to save your sorry asses.

Unbelievable!
