So our governor, after strong consideration, decided to take the government bailout, stimulus, Obama print some more money, money.
Part of me wishes we would have been like Ford and said nah, we don''t need it. I still like that about the only American car manufacturer left. The attitude of we can manage ourselves, because we were not really that bad to being with.
After all, isn''t that philosophy what it is all about in this great state of Texas. We have long considered ourselves part of a different country. A country of Texans who can make it their own way or die trying.
So to see us accept this money is kind of a let down. Where are all the old gun slinging cowboys that built this great state. Heck, this is one of the few states, if not the only, one where you are still guaranteed a horse and a gun when you get out of jail.
I know, I know we have a lot of needy people out there that could really benefit from this money. Is $13/week really going to help those people? And will any of them ever see any of this "freshly printed" money in their pockets.
The state a Texas is doing much better in this economy that most states. We are the few, the proud the Texans. We should have told the government that we are OK and like Ford we don''t need any help. And then we should have all gone to Shiner, Texas, drank beer, and thrown a huge BBQ in honor of our independence.
Man, I hear you. It sure would be nice to see an upset in Lincoln this weekend. The way this season is going Texas could make it back into the top 25 without playing.
